Definitions
The following definitions will apply to this Privacy Policy, and any reference to the singular includes a reference to the plural and vice versa. Capitalised terms used but not defined below have been described elsewhere in this Privacy Notice.
Opportunities shall mean public opportunities (which mean competitions, quizzes, hackathons, events in general, scholarships, Jobs, Internships, conferences, festivals, and concerts, organized by the client to secure Candidates/Participants from the public at large) and private opportunities (which mean competitions, quizzes, hackathons, events in general, scholarships, Jobs, Internships, conferences, festivals, concerts, organized by the client for an identified group of Participants), collectively.
Opportunity Content shall mean any content of an opportunity, (verbal, written or in audio-visual form), including material, performance, presentation, reports, graphics, sounds, information and data such as messages or files used or shared or communicated while hosting the opportunity in case of a client and/or while participating in an opportunity, in case of a Participant/Candidate, as may be applicable.
Clients shall mean companies, institutes, businesses, organisations, (including authorised representatives of such companies, institutes, businesses, organisations) and individuals, who are registered on the Platform and who use the Platform to organise and host their opportunities.
Participants/Candidates shall mean individuals including authorised representatives of companies, institutes, businesses, organisations registered on the Platform, desirous of participating in an opportunity.
Withdrawing Consent
Wherever we rely on your consent, you will always be able to withdraw that consent, although we may have other legal grounds for processing your data for other purposes, such as those set out above. In some cases, we are able to send you direct marketing without your consent, where we rely on our legitimate interests. You have an absolute right to opt out of direct marketing, or profiling we carry out for direct marketing, at any time. Cookies
We use data collection devices such as "cookies" on our Platform. "Cookies" are small files sited on your hard drive that assist us in providing customized services. Cookies can also help us provide information which is targeted to your interests. Our Platform uses session cookies to ensure that you have a good experience. These cookies contain a unique number, your 'session ID', which allows our server to recognize your computer and 'remember' what you've done on the Platform. The benefits of this are:
- You only need to login once if you're navigating secure areas of the Platform.
- Our server can distinguish between your computer and other users, so you can see the information that you have requested.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies by modifying your browser settings if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the Platform. We also use various third-party cookies for usage, behavioural, analytics and preferences data.
Information Shared by the Participant/Candidate Directly with the Client
The client may request for certain information of the Participant/Candidate during an Event/Opportunity/Job organized by the client which is in addition to the information obtained by the Platform. Such information shared by Participants with clients may include certain special categories of information such as data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a person, data concerning health or data concerning a person's sex life or sexual orientation. Please note that any such information shared by the Participant with the client is being provided directly by the Participant to the client and Rekruters and/or Platform is in no manner involved in such sharing of information. Rekruters shall in no manner be responsible and/or liable for the use, misuse, or treatment of such information and this Privacy Notice does not govern any such information shared by the Participant/Candidate with the Client.
During the course of our Services, we will transfer your personal data to India. However, depending on the location of the organizer, your data may be transferred to other countries as well.
Links
Rekruters.com may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of customized content and advertising.
Affiliated Sites
Rekruters.com may offer some services in connection with other websites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to us in order to deliver the service. We process such information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. The affiliated sites may have different privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Security
Your Rekruters account information is password-protected for your privacy and security.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Rekruters site may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent, and we expect most such changes will be minor. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information, we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our pages.
Data Integrity
Rekruters processes personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Privacy Policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide or improve our services. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our users to update or correct their personal information whenever necessary.
Your Rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data; to correct, delete or restrict (stop any active) processing of your personal data; and to obtain the personal data you provide to us for a contract or with your consent in a structured, machine readable format.
In addition, you can object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances (in particular, where we don't have to process the data to meet a contractual or other legal requirement, or where we are using the data for direct marketing).
These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, where they would infringe the rights of a third party (including our rights) or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law to keep or have compelling legitimate interests in keeping. Relevant exemptions are included in both the GDPR and in the Data Protection Act 2018. We will inform you of relevant exemptions we rely upon when responding to any request you make.
Data Retention
We generally retain your personal data as long as you keep your account open or as needed to provide you Services and for a period of 5 (five) years after you have requested that your account is closed or if it's been inactive for 5 (five) years. This includes data you or others provided to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our Services.
For client-controlled or owned data, the default retention period is three (3) years. Data is archived after one (1) year and deleted after three (3) years, or deleted when requested by the client, whichever is earlier.
Where we process personal data for marketing purposes or with your consent, we process the data until you ask us to stop and for a short period after this (to allow us to implement your requests). We also keep a record of the fact that you have asked us not to send you direct marketing or to process your data so that we can respect your request in future.
Where we process personal data in connection with performing a contract or for a competition, we keep the data for 6 (six) years from your last interaction with us.
